Federal and provincial infrastructure improvements are coming to North Bay.

MP Anthony Rota has announced the federal share of improvements dedicated to North Bay Transit of $14.5 million.

The province is also providing funding around $12 million.

Rota says the money will be spread out over 10 years and will help the city develop a long term plan for transit projects.

“The city won’t have to rush in every year and try to get extra. They can count on it. They can accumulate it and make the expenses when they have to be made so they can have a long running long term plan for the transit system,” Rota says.
The funding is actually phase 2 of federal support in North Bay for public transit.

The city’s managing director of Community Services John Severino says this is new money and the $2.4 million received previously was for 12 transit related projects.
