Toronto police have announced a 21-year-old suspect has been arrested in the killing of a former North Bay woman, who was found dead by her mother days after she was reported missing.

Kalen Schlatter has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 22-year-old Tess Richey.

She was reported missing last November 25th.

Her body was found four days later in an alleyway not far from where she was last seen and an autopsy determined she had been strangled.

Toronto police said in December that they were reviewing the conduct of officers who investigated Richey’s disappearance but did not reveal specifically what concerns they had about the investigation.
