A 22-year-old woman found dead in an abandoned building in downtown Toronto was murdered, police say.

Tess Richey (formerly of North Bay) was reported missing around 3 a.m. Saturday November 25th after she disappeared from the area of Church and Wellesley streets.

Her body was found in a building in the area around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Police didn’t believe her death to be suspicious at the time, but an autopsy found she had died due to “neck compression.”

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation.

There’s no word yet on any suspects.
