North Bay’s new Adult Enrichment Centre has officially opened its doors on Main Street.

Executive Director Nicole Morin says the centre will support those with developmental disabilities over the age of 21 but they also offer before and after school programs for students at school.

She says the idea is to give them life managing skills.

“Teaching them about cooking, using the city transit system, getting out and volunteering that sort of thing.”
One such client is Ryan Dietrich.

He says one of the benefits of this centre is a place to go to and feel safe.

He says he’s been told by staff they have one rule that there will be no bullying.

“That happens a lot out there. It happened to me when I was in school. I was bullied a lot growing up. That’s one rule they have here there’s no bullying here whatsoever. No making fun of, no teasing nothing.”

Ryan says he feels good about that.
