The City of North Bay is bidding for a major curling tournament; The Women’s World Curling Championship in 2018.

Project Lead Dave Bennett says it would be played at Memorial Gardens and is something they have been working on for a while.

He says this would be a major tournament for the city to host.

Bennett says it would feature 12 teams if they are successful.

He says it is a closed bidding process so they don’t know how many communities are also in the running, but a decision will come at the end of August.

He adds they have to get a pre-sale of tickets.

More information on that will come out in about a week.
