North Bay PoliceAnd this years budget features a 1.9% increase.

Their budget for 2016 is over $17.3 million, and Deputy Chief Shawn Devine says 90% of that is going towards salary, overtime, and benefits.

While the remaining 10, goes to water and hydro for the station, fuel for the cruisers, and more. Devine says he believes people in North Bay should know that labor talks are still going on with the North Bay Police Association, but that the group were mindful to the economic climate in the city.

One of the ways they were able to lower the budget was through retirements and sending an officer to teach at Ontario Police College.

Devine says while the budget has increased, it’s a lower increase than in previous years.

He says now the Chair of the Board and himself will present the budget to council for approval.
