North Bay City Council has approved taking $48,000 from elsewhere to support the $460,000 McIntyre Street Parking Garage rehabilitation project.

Chair of Infrastructure and Operations Councillor Chris Mayne says the contract is for repair work , water proofing and new expansion joints rather than just rehabilitation.

“It’s something that needs to be done. If the salt and water isn’t contained properly it can lead to early deterioration of the concrete structure. The parking garage is an important asset in the downtown area,” Mayne says.

He says the extra money is coming from on going parking lot maintenance and the Pete Palangio Parking Lot project as this money was unspent.
