An update on the latest case of COVID-19 in the district.

The 38th case was reported yesterday on the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit website, and is resolved.

Mayor Al McDonald posted some further information to social media today.

“The individual tested positive for COVID-19 outside of Canada, where they isolated for 14 days. Upon return to Canada they isolated again for 14 days, as per the quarantine act. As the individual’s permanent address is in our district, the individual is counted in our case numbers. The individual was not infectious while in the Health Unit district,” the mayor wrote.

Meantime, the Health Unit is issuing a community notice of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in Parry Sound.

Officials say the person worked on September 5th, from 11 am to 2 pm at the Bay Street Café, while awaiting for COVID-19 test results.

Local contact tracing is underway.

The Health Unit says people who ate at the establishment during that time are considered low risk, as per the Ministry of Health guidelines.

It’s recommended they self-monitor for symptoms, until September 19th, and get tested if symptoms develop.
