A fund has been set up to help out small businesses and charities struggling to pay their energy bills due to COVID-19.

North Bay Hydro is encouraging eligible small businesses and charities to apply for the COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program for Small Business.

The province is providing $8 million in funding, on top of a previous $9 million that was allocated to residential customers.

There are a number of eligibility requirements.

The Ontario Energy Board says there’s no deadline to apply, but funding for the program is limited.

The residential program began accepting applications in mid-July.
