The North Bay YMCA is reopening on Tuesday, September 8th.

Officials also say fitness classes and the Aquatics Centre, including private and semi-private swim lessons, will reopen on Monday, September 14th.

The Y’s new hours will be 7 am to 7 pm Monday to Friday and closed on weekends.

The facility will also be closed daily from 1:30 pm to 3 pm for deep cleaning.

“We are thrilled to announce we are reopening our Health and Fitness Facilities in Sudbury and North Bay on September 8th. We are taking a gradual approach to reopening, prioritizing health and safety and to ensure that we can open in a financially viable manner. Our YMCA remains financially challenged as we come through a period of significant revenue loss and a time where we anticipate membership return will be slow initially.” said Helen Francis, President and CEO for the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario.

The Aquatics Centre in Sudbury does not have the financial capacity to reopen at this time.

Locally, there are room capacity limits, changerooms with limited locker availability and water fountains will not be available for use.

Members are asked to:
– Self-screen using the screening guidelines approved by the Ministry of Health before arrival. Upon arrival to the YMCA, we ask that members scan their card. When the card is scanned, members agree that they have passed the self-screening questionnaire.
– Upon arrival to the YMCA, please enter through the door marked “enter” and leave through “exit”. Please sanitize your hands when you enter the facility.
– Members will not have to book their visit ahead of time. Room capacity limits will be posted on signs throughout the facility. Members are asked to please work with staff and volunteers to stay within those limits.
– Registration is required for all fitness classes in order to monitor class sizes. Registration can be done online and will open on Monday, September 14th at 5:00am. More information will be shared with members next week.
– Please arrive ready to workout with a water bottle, towel and gym appropriate clothing. Changerooms will be available with limited locker availability and no water fountains will be available for use.
– Cleaning supplies will be available throughout all fitness areas. Please remember to wipe equipment down before and after each use. All fitness areas will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized regularly by YMCA staff and volunteers.
– We know that the last few months have been a tremendously challenging time. We want to do everything we can to ensure that members can access YMCA programs and membership, and start or continue to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. If members require financial assistance, please contact the North Bay YMCA by email northbay.membership@ymcaneo.ca or call 705-497-9622
