North Bay City Councillor Bill Vrebosch is the new city representative on the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities executive.

He’s replacing Mac Bain who is the new executive director of FONOM.

Vrebosch hopes to get elected to the AMO northern caucus in August at the Association of Municipalities conference.

He says North Bay plays an important role in FONOM.

“I would bring a lot of perspective to the north. The rest of Northern Ontario looks to North Bay as being the gateway of the north and is one of the leaders in bringing attention to the provincial government,” he says.

Vrebosch says the government must realize Northern Ontario is different.

“We have a right to be here. And we have a right to programs,” he says.

Marcus Tignanelli was named as the city’s alternate rep.
