Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the North Bay area which includes North Bay, Powassan, Mattawa and West Nipissing.

The warning says temperatures could reach near 30 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday and the humidex could hit the mid to upper thirties.

Showers should cool things down on Thursday.

Tips include drink plenty of water, stay in a cool place, never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

Risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors are groups that may be at risk.
