Officials at Canadore College held a meeting with staff on Monday on COVID-19.

President George Burton says plans are being finalized for the 900 students who must return to school to complete the practical component of their programs.

He says the college will bring those students back on campus as soon as it is safely possible.

The college says the first-year domestic student intake for this spring has been deferred for North Bay campuses while the international student intake has been cancelled.

Burton points out the international spring intake at Canadore’s Toronto partner, Stanford International College of Business and Technology, is now underway.

Officials say the returning student number is solid and it hasn’t fallen off.

Vice President Shawn Chorney says it’s on par with what the college expected in its enrolment.

He says confirmations coming into the fall domestically are up, for most programs but there are certain specific sectors, like aviation, that are tracking down right now.

Burton says the college will proceed with caution until the actual enrolment numbers are known though.
