Members of chambers of commerce in Northern Ontario took part in a virtual meeting with three northern cabinet ministers on Wednesday.

A wide range of issues were discussed including a backlog of Northern Ontario Heritage Fund projects, the easing of restrictions on business and the impact of COVID-19 on colleges and universities.

Nipissing MPP and Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade Vic Fedeli had a message for business to follow the lifting of restrictions situation closely.

“When all this is over your moral fibre and business reputation is going to be judged. That’s why I say companies like Canadian Tire and Home Hardware that play by the rules will come out very, very strong,” Fedeli says.

Fedeli encouraged chamber members to go to www.ontario.ca/coronavirus regularly for the latest information on when businesses can begin to get ready to re-open and when the restrictions will be lifted for the various sectors.

Also taking part were Minister of Colleges and Universities Ross Romano and Greg Rickford, who has three portfolios including Indigenous Affairs and Northern Development.
