Despite the challenges around COVID-19, local robotics Team 1305 won two awards this season.

Colton Chaput  (pictured below) was one of five finalists for the FIRST Dean’s List Award.

The team was also one of eleven across Ontario to win the Chairman’s Award.

The award honours the team that best represents a model for other teams to emulate and best embodies the mission of FIRST.

Team 1305 has also been working with a local emergency room doctor and engineers to design and test a UV sterilization cart for personal equipment.

That includes surgical masks, cell phones, ID badges, and goggles.

More details are expected next week.

Team members are also making personal protective equipment such as masks and headbands for front line workers.

The team is also partnering to recognize and thank front-line workers at various local businesses and organizations.
