The Innovation Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Prototyping at Canadore College is supporting the community amid COVID-19.

ICAMP is producing 50 face shields a week with their 3D printer and offering them to healthcare agencies and first responders free of charge.

North Bay Police are using the face shields.

“We are adapting and making necessary changes in our day to day operations in policing to ensure the safety of the people we serve and ensure that our officers can maintain their health,” said North Bay Police Inspector Kirk Kelusky. “People should not be alarmed. We are doing this for everyone’s safety.”

“Supporting our health care workers and first responders with personal protective equipment is vital in the battle against COVID-19,” said Canadore President George Burton. “Canadore’s ICAMP 3D printing and prototype design capabilities, along with our partners, are putting technology and know-how to work” .

ICAMP also designed the equipment that helped New Ontario Brewing re-tool it’s production to hand sanitizer.

They created the preliminary designs for the necessary vapour distilling columns and G&P Welding and Ironworks manufactured it.

Officials say the college continues to receive requests for support from across the community and will help wherever possible.

“Canadore employees are engaged, putting their knowledge and resources to work supporting the larger effort to combat COVID-19,” said Burton.
