There are no cases of COVID-19 in the North Bay District as of Wednesday afternoon.

The Near North District School Board has announced all of their facilities will be closed until April 6th.

Officials say the closure applies to all Near North Board facilities and programs, including the board office and all programs and services in non-school locations.

They say the decision is intended to keep all students, staff and communities safe by minimizing the potential for transmission of COVID-19.

Nipissing First Nation is closing their administrative offices at 4:30 pm on Friday, March 20th until Monday, April 6th at 8 am.

All offices will be closed to all employees and community members during this time.

Employees will be compensated with staff monitoring calls and emails, and responding accordingly.

(West Nipissing)

West Nipissing’s Emergency Control Group met Wednesday morning to implement an emergency plan.

They say while the Health Unit continues to advise that the risk of contracting COVID-19 in our district is low, the Control Group is focused on preventative measures.

They say preparations are in place for the implementation of an Assessment Centre to provide screening, assessment and testing to residents, when necessary.

They continue to monitor the situation and will meet regularly to reassess.

 

The municipality is urging residents that are returning from travel abroad, to follow the directive from the Government of Canada to self-isolate for 14 days.

Emmanuel United Church has cancelled all worship services, meals, Beef Supper and congregational meetings until Aprill 11th.

The Food Cupboard remains operational today from 10:00 am -12 noon) but is restricted.

Plans are to have an Easter service April 12th.

The Powassan Voodoos have cancelled their spring training camp set for April 18 and 19 at the Powassan Sportsplex.
The NOJHL has already cancelled this season’s playoffs.

(22 Wing)

22 Wing/Canadian Forces Base North Bay is limiting access to only those personnel required for essential services, families living on the base and contractors.

The following services are closed to the public: The Ayr Mess, the Wing Chapel, the CANEX and the Subway restaurant.

The following services are closed to all including military members and dependents: 22 Wing Fitness & Wellness Centre, Canadian Forces Museum of Aerospace Defense, North Bay Military Family Resource Centre and Little Wings Childcare Centre.

22 Wing is maintaining essential core and administration activities in support of on-going operations, while taking all precautionary measures to avoid any illness or additional exposure to the wing’s military and civilian personnel.

Part of the wing’s personnel will remain working at the wing, and others will continue to work from other locations.
