A winter storm warning is in effect for the North Bay area.

Environment Canada says anywhere from 20 to 40 cm of snow is expected by late in the day tomorrow.

The weather agency says light snow is expected to develop this morning and become heavy late in day.

The heavy snow will continue overnight before tapering to flurries late tomorrow.

Meantime, a snowfall warning is in effect in West Nipissing-French River, with 15 to 25 cm of snow possible there.

All the snow in the forecast right across the province has resulted in the union representing French-language teachers in Ontario to cancel their planned strike for tomorrow.

Officials say it’s about ensuring safety for their members.

Contract talks between the union and the province are slated for Friday.
