We told you last month about changes coming as the result of work done by the Mayor’s Roundtable Action team.

One announcement concerned the transitional housing and crisis stabilization centre.

It will be run by District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board, North Bay Mental Health and Housing Services and the Crisis Centre.

In a release, North Bay Mental Health and Housing Services Executive Director Mary Davis says the centre expects to have six beds and plans are to open the facility in the summer of next year.

She says thanks to reallocation of current and new provincial government funding $1.3 million is being invested in the new services.

She says no location for the new centre has been chosen.
