A holiday tradition is back on the air on Saturday.

The 73rd annual Lions Children’s Christmas Telethon is being broadcast from 2 pm to 11 pm on Your TV North Bay and Country 600 CKAT.

There’s plenty of live, local entertainment lined up for the event.

Committee member Marlene Link says last year they assisted about 400 families in the several outlying communities.

“So the families will have a better Christmas, we provide toys for the children and a food hamper with a ham or turkey,” she says.
Link says they get great feedback when the deliveries are made.

“People are just thrilled, they feel like they’re looked after, they can have a good Christmas meal. Sometimes people have hard times and situations happen, they can have a day where ‘wow, somebody’s looked after me’ it makes everybody feel good,” she says.

Viewing party’s are also lined up in Kearney, South River and at the Elk’s Lodge in North Bay.

Pledges can be made at area Scotiabank locations or online at www.lionschildrenstelethon.com (click the donate button).

During the telethon donations can be made by calling 705-472-4420 OR 1-844-888-4420.
