Several area employment agencies are hosting a job fair today (Friday) at Northgate Shopping Centre.

At least 20 employers are involved, with the fair running from 930am to 2pm in Centre Court.

It’s the first time the job fair is being held at the mall.

Officials say they’re trying it out to make it easier for people to get there by bus, or to offer ample parking for those that are driving there.

It also provides for easy access for retailers who may be looking for extra holiday help.

Participating employers include, but are not limited to:
– ParaMed Home Health Care Services
– CAF Army Reserve
– 22 Wing North Bay FCAF Reserve Flight
– Q2 Distributing
– Nipissing Indigenous Hub
– Nipissing Transition House
– Stock Transportation
– Plan A Nipissing
– HGS Canada
– Canor Contruction
– Garderie Soleil
– DNSSAB

– North Bay Regional Health Centre
– Get Trained Workers
– Zed Customer Solutions
– Home Instead Senior Care
– Community Living North Bay
– Voyageur Aviation Corporation
– Cambrian Staffing Solutions
– Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord

– Labour Market Group

“There are job openings in the District, and this type of event makes it easier for both the job seeker and employer to connect,” says DNSSAB Acting CAO, Melanie Shaye. “This is a tremendous effort by employment partners in the District, and past years have shown it’s very successful at meeting labour market needs.”

Anyone looking for work is advised to bring an updated résumé and be ready for a possible interview.
