Some positive signs in a 5-4 loss for the North Bay Battalion last night to Oshawa at Memorial Gardens.

Troops head coach Stan Butler says their guys played really hard.

“They didn’t give up right to the end, it was a good effort, what we told them is we want to see them getting better everyday, and we feel we’re going in the right direction,” he says.

Cameron Peters, Brandon Coe (pictured), Niki Korpialho and Mitchell Russell scored for North Bay.

It was the first OHL game on home ice for goalie Christian Cigigoi, who faced 35 shots.

Butler says the rookie goalie had a good game.

“He didn’t get any breaks, a couple bad bounces, on the fifth goal it was kind of a pool shot, boom-boom-boom-bang, he bounced back and we need him to do that in order to do well,” he says.

Next up, the Battalion are on the road playing Niagara Saturday night.
