A 30 year old Matachewan man is facing several charges following a RIDE spot check near Powassan last Saturday morning.

Police say they observed a vehicle pull into a driveway and the lights turned off.

Officers attended the vehicle to check on the status of the driver.

Police say he walked away initially and then ran away.

Later, police learned the vehicle was stolen and the motorist once apprehended was charged with resisting a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer, public mischief, flight from a peace officer and failure or refusal to comply with demands.

Meantime, a 19 year old North Bay woman has been charged with operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs and alcohol.

Police say the arrest came while doing a RIDE check on Trout Lake Road early last Saturday morning.

Police say there have now been 39  motorists charged with impaired driving within the North Bay Detachment area this year.

OPP say driving sober includes having both no alcohol and no drugs in your system before operating a vehicle, vessel or ATV.

And that means leaving  enough time after consumption before you drive,

Infact, police say even after sleeping you can still be impaired.
