The official opening of the permanent Science North THINK hub has taken place at the North Bay Museum.

THINK stands for Tinker, Hack, Innovate, Network, and Know and Science North CEO Guy Labine told BayToday it encourages experimentation by young people in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

“You’re allowed to invest, make and innovate. That’s a key part of the THINK concept. It allows visitors to explore, self develop and be comfortable. And even if you fail you can try it again and make it better,” he says.

Nipissing-Timiskaming MP Anthony Rota and Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli attended the launch.

Labine told BayToday says senior government support was essential to making this happen.

“Without their funding not only do we not have a THINK project at Science North more importantly we wouldn’t have been able to install these six hubs in Northern Ontario and these are permanent installations,” Labine says.

FEDNOR is contributing $1.7 million and the province through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund $1 million.
