For the 14th year the North Bay and District Labour Council is putting on a Labour Day Picnic at the North Bay Waterfront.

President Henri Giroux says the parade starts the day’s events on Monday.

“The Parade of Flags starts at 11:30. We march down to the waterfront to the carousels area. At 12, we light up the barbecue and start cooking the hamburgers and hot dogs,” he says.

There will also be large inflatable slides and castles, a very popular climbing wall, face painting, live music, fish pond, pop and cake.

He says their focus this year is the federal election and the importance of all parties having a national pharmacare plan.

“People have to make a choice between cutting their medication in half or spending less on groceries. I’ve been through this personally and paying for the medicine is very expensive,” he says.

Giroux says this is a fun family event.
