A fallen police officer continues to have an impact.

Greater Sudbury Police officer Christopher Labreche was off duty on July 4th when he died in a two vehicle collision on Highway 69.

One of his good friends was Stacey Jackson, a North Bay Police Officer.

He told BayToday Labreche, known as “Critter” was a volunteer with Special Olympics.

“It was something that was near and dear to his heart. Special Olympics brought a lot of joy to him,” he says.

At his celebration of life, family member Natasha Odorizzi-Amyotte saw someone wearing a t-shirt being sold to raise money for an officer battling a serious health issue.

So she decided to design and sell t-shirts in honour of Labreche with the funds supporting Special Olympics.

She says they’ve sold 260 already.

BayToday asked cousin Megan McCarthy how Christopher would feel about this initiative.

“I think he would be really choked up we’ve done this in his name. Just to know we’re supporting a good cause that he cared about. It really warms our hearts. I’m sure his heart is warm right now just thinking about it,” she says.

If you would like to order any t-shirts you can e mail natasha.odorizzi@hotmail.com
