The timing for a new bylaw including taxis and Rideshare companies in North Bay has changed again.

Last month police board officials pushed up the date to this month’s meeting after a Rideshare company started up in the city.

However, at the meeting officials including Police Chief Scott Tod said the bylaw will be announced in the fall.

“In September we’re hoping to have a bylaw ready to be circulated and shared with stakeholders first. And then a public consultation afterwards. I think it would be the October board meeting where we’re hoping to have something available for the board to approve,” he says.

That was the original timing for the update.

He says they have looked at what’s going on in other communities and they want to ensure the bylaw is legitimate and can be enforced when it rolls out.
