Officials say one in five Canadians living with HIV are unaware they have HIV.

That’s why this year’s theme for National HIV Testing Day is “Know Your Status”.

For a second year the AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area is taking part.

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit will be at the AIDS Committee of North Bay & Area (269 Main West, suite 201) from 1-3 pm tomorrow (Thursday) to offer the free one-minute test.

ACNBA supportive staff will be available to answer questions and offer links to care if test results are HIV-positive.

The National HIV Testing Day event is organized by the Canadian AIDS Society (CAS), local community organizations and health authorities across Canada.

An estimated 70 communities will be offering free point-of-care testing to know your status in only one minute.
