The provincial government says it’s making the Northern Ontario Internship Program more accessible, creating job opportunities for Indigenous people and addressing the skilled labour shortage.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says programs in Nipissing will receive $578,000 in funding.

Fedeli says the government is removing the requirement that applicants be recent university or college graduates.

He says program candidates will now include new entrants into the workforce, those transitioning to a new career, the unemployed, and underemployed.
