A call for the province to support Highway 11 to be included as part of the 400 series of highways including the 400 and the 401.

This comes form North Bay City Council which passed a motion this week.

Councillor Mike Anthony authored the motion.

He says putting a 4 in front of Highway 11 may attract more people here.

“With a new provincial government that seems open to looking at some new ways of doing things let’s put this in front of them and see if they see any benefit to try to help the north and help North Bay this way,” Anthony says.

Anthony says having Highway 11 as a 400 highway will clear up some confusion for people down south where we are and benefit the area economically.

“I’m sure that there might be more Southern Ontario tourists coming to the area if they realize how close we are. And I was really pleased to see council support the motion,” he says.

He says copies of the motion will be forwarded to communities south of North Bay all the way to Barrie to garner support.
