Like the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority on Wednesday the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry on Thursday extended the flood warning in the North Bay District until Monday.

The ministry says especially vulnerable are people who live in and around Lake Nipissing, the Ottawa River near Mattawa and the Sturgeon River.

Water levels on Lake Nipissing are said to be very high and are affecting the lower sections of the La Vase River, Parks Creek, and Jessups Creek.

The level of the Ottawa River at Mattawa is also high and the level has risen slightly lately but it’s expected to decrease over the next few days.

There’s little rain in the forecast for the next 3 days.
