A cornucopia of community events is coming to North Bay in one weekend next month.

It’s being called Bay Days and will see musical entertainment at the waterfront, the children’s festival at the Capitol Centre and several events downtown.

Steve Dreany of Tourism North Bay says this is not to replace Summer In The Park but can fill a void this year with that event being cancelled.

He says they wanted to check three boxes.

“We also know that the community wants something that’s local, is grass roots and is free,” he says.

He says they’ve done that.

Dreany says the city is providing $10,000 in funding to help put on the event with most of the money being used to pay local bands.

Community Services Committee chair Johanne Brousseau hopes the community will support this grass roots event.

“I’m going to be basing the success of the event and the popularity of it with the public to decide on whether the funding will go up next year and if the event can be expanded,” she says.

The dates for Bay Days are June 14th-16th.

There are also plans in the works for a similar event in the fall.
