An estimated 150 people attended a teachers rally in front of MPP Vic Fedeli’s office on Wednesday.

It was organized by the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation.

Local OSSTF District Four president Glen Hodgson says they continue to wait on the grant information to see if any of the 114 teachers declared redundant will be brought back.

He says the wait continues for these teachers.

“It hasn’t changed. It’s been weeks since they’ve been saying that. They said when the grants were announced two weeks nothing has happened. We’ve looked at the budget and the numbers and we’re not confident there’s going to be a lot of change in the next little while,” he says.

Fedeli released this statement on Wednesday.

“Our government is committed to protecting what matters most while balancing the budget in a responsible manner. Once again, let me be clear – we are standing by our commitment that not a single teacher will lose their job as a result of our proposed changes to class sizes and e-learning,” he says.

Hodgson says if the government comes through with funding they’re still planning to make cuts over the next couple of years.
