Ontario Northland says due to reduction in re-manufacturing work, 31 layoff notices have been issued in the Re-Manufacturing and Repair division in North Bay.

In a release, President and CEO Corina Moore says like many other companies in manufacturing, Ontario Northland must balance the number of jobs with operational requirements.

Communications Manager Renee Baker says the layoffs are immediate but they’re confident in the future of their business.

“We’re confident with the divisions reputation for quality repair work that we will have more work in our shops in the coming months and hopefully that will result in some of the employees being called back,” she says.

Baker says there are a total of 200 employees including the 31 laid off in the Re-manufacturing and Repair division.
