The Special Investigations Unit has determined there are no reasonable grounds to lay criminal charges in connection with a man’s death in February of last year.

North Bay Police attended a domestic matter and the SIU says the officers became involved in a physical struggle with a man as they attempted to subdue him.

It says one officer deployed his taser but this had no discernible effect.

In time, the officers were finally able to gain control of the man who was believed to be suffering from a drug-induced psychosis.

Later, while waiting for an ambulance, the man’s breathing began to fail and as such, officers began to administer CPR.

The man was taken to hospital by paramedics where he was pronounced dead.
