The worst kept secret in North Bay is official.

A casino will built here.

Bay Today says Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited plans to build a new casino on a 7.3-acre parcel of land just off Highway 11 adjacent to Nipissing Junction on Pinewood Park Drive.

The company plans to start construction this summer once approvals are obtained.

The casino will include slots and table games.

North Bay Mayor Al McDonald says there are several economic benefits.

“It’s almost a $30 million build. The employment will be there for construction and 200 local jobs to work once the construction is finished,” he says.

He says there are several spinoffs for local businesses and an increased assessment for the city.
