The city says it’ll be installing a new pumping station and sanitary sewer in and around Gertrude Street beginning this spring.

Tenders have already been issued with work expected to start next month.

The new triplex pumping station to be built in the parking lot at the West Ferris Arena will replace the current one at Knox Court.

The work is expected to wrap up in December and the work will include road restoration, new curb and gutter, road base materials and paving.

There will also be a 375 mm sanitary sewer installed from Knox Court to the sewage pumping station.

The city says fewer back-ups from flooding during spring run-off and large storms are expected as a result of the project

Officials say motorists should expect traffic delays and detours throughout the construction period.
