A rally on Friday afternoon highlighted safety concerns at Canadore. At issue is allegations of misconduct and harassment.

Organizer of The Rally For a Respectful Canadore Workplace Natalia Brown said they decided to read 14 vicim impact statements at the rally.

“I wanted people to know that there are real people behind these statements. They stand behind their words. They’ve come forward and they’re brave, ” she says.

She says 50 people have come forward to speak about workplace issues at Canadore and 30 victim impact statements have been received.

Brown says they want the college to put an employee on leave while complaints of harassment and misconduct are dealt with by a 3rd party.

Brigitte Lebel. Executive Director of the Amelia Rising Sexual Assault Centre of Nipissing says that’s the right thing to do.

“At this point he’s only accused of these complaints. Regardless, he should be removed while the investigation is going on because people are claiming they’re feeling unsafe. It’s not okay to feel unsafe in your workplace it’s unacceptable,” Lebel says.
