A 27 year old city man is facing five charges including impaired driving by drug and possession for the purpose of trafficking after a collision in late February on Pinewood Park Drive.

North Bay Police seized over 85 grams of purple fentanyl worth over 42-thousand dollars from the vehicle.

The man is still being treated for injuries in the crash while the other driver has been released from medical care.

City police report a 20 year old North Bay man has been charged after officers responded to a report of a man with a knife and making threats on Thursday.

Police say a person was seen shoplifting by an employee of a business in the Trout Lake Road area.

They say a knife was revealed and a verbal threat made when he was approached.

The man was arrested nearby after fleeing the business.

OPP report 43 drivers have been charged with stunt driving and racing in the first quarter of 2019.

212 drivers were charged in all of 2018.

Police point out nearly 40 percent of those charged were between the ages of 21 and 30 while 86 percent were male.

OPP also say over a quarter (28 percent) of collisions in the northeast region last year were caused by excessive speed.
