Team 1305, and their alliance, won their hometown Robotics competition on the weekend at Nipissing University.

The local team has won the North Bay FIRST Regional event the past two years, with this being their fifth consecutive district event win.

They also earned the event’s top prize, the Chairman’s Award.

Chairman’s recognizes the team “that best represents a model for other teams to emulate and best embodies the mission of FIRST’.

“Our North Bay community has played a big part in the success of our team and we so appreciate all that they do to make our team strong,” says team captain Colton Chaput.

Team 1305 is now looking forward to the provincial championship next weekend in Mississauga.

Meantime, it was announced on the weekend that Enbridge Gas was supporting the FIRST Robotics Competition at Nipissing University.

In a release, Enbridge Gas says it supports eight Ontario teams as well as robotics competitions across the province through a $50,000 grant.
