Three youth bowlers from Partners Bowling in North Bay have won medals at provincials.

Anna Sands (pictured above) won silver in Bantam Girls Singles while the junior boys team of Devyn Tremblay and Austin Sands (pictured below) won bronze.

Sixteen youth bowlers took part in the event in Dryden last weekend.

Rounding out top 5 finishes at the Provincials included:

  • Elijah Robillard – 4th place finish in the Bantam Boys Singles category
  • Brianna Gauthier, Abby Hurtubise, Coach Sharon McKenny – 5th place finish in the Bantam Girls Team category
  • Sadie Tremblay, Shelby Gaudreau, Coach Barry Tremblay – 5th place finish in the Junior Girls Team category.
  • Kyrsten Tremblay, Emma Starcevic, Coach Michael Maclean – 5th place finish in the Senior Girls Team category.
  • Thomas Williams, Noah Starcevic, Coach Tom Williams – 5th place finish in the Senior Boys Team category.

Congratulations to other bowlers from the Gateway zone including gold medalist Felicity Eckensviller from Haileybury in the Junior Girls Singles category, silver medalist Stephane Bedard from Haileybury in the Senior Boys Singles category and silver medalists Taylor Antler, Abby Furlotte, Coach Todd Bosak from Haileybury in the Junior Girls Team category.

Felicity will be competing at the YBC Nationals in Oshawa in May 2019.

Officials say it was also a bittersweet tournament as bowlers, not only from Partners Bowling but many other bowlers, coaches, parents from across Northern Ontario wore ribbons in memory of long time bowling coach Phil “Flipper” Smith from North Bay who passed away recently.
