What a night for Kacey Musgraves who took home four awards, including Album of the year for “Golden Hour.”

It’s the first time a country album took home the night’s biggest prize since 2010, when Taylor Swift was still doing country music and her album Fearless was the award winner.

Prior to Sunday night, Musgraves had earned two career Grammy Awards: Best Country Album for Same Trailer Different Park And Best Country Song for “Merry Go ‘Round” in 2014.

“Golden Hour” also took home the award for Best Country Album, which is co-produced by Musgraves, Ian Fitchuk, and Daniel Tashian.

That’s not all for Musgraves though. Her song “Butterflies” won Best Country Solo Performance and “Space Cowboys” was the Best Country Song.

Dan + Shay took home the award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their hit “Tequila.”

And the unofficial winner of performance of the night (in my opinion) went to the Dolly Parton Tribute!

A variety of female vocal powerhouses came together to pay tribute to Dolly Parton. It opened with Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves trading vocals on “Here You Come Again,” before Parton stormed the stage with goddaughter Miley Cyrus to take on her hit “Jolene”.

“Jolene” is one of my favourite country songs of all-time and I was nervous to see Miley Cyrus attempt it but Dolly kept her in line and the performance turned out well.

Maren Morris and Little Big Town also joined Parton on stage to cover some of her other hits before everyone came together to sing “9 to 5.”

It was a great tribute to Dolly Parton who was honored by MusiCares Friday night as its 2019 Person of the Year, the first country artist to be given that award!
