A ‘sweet’ weeklong fundraiser to help sick and abandoned animals is coming up locally.

The North Bay and District Humane Society’s National Cupcake Day fundraiser launches Feb 23rd at Parker’s Your Independent Grocer.

Orchards Fresh Food Market, SugarDaddy Cupcakes & Catering and Chez Jean-Marc Bakery in Sturgeon Falls are also involved.

Pre-orders can be done at northbayhumanesociety.ca/cupcakes.

Proceeds benefit Humane Society programs like adoptions, low-cost spay and neuters and animal transfers.

“Sixty years after we opened our doors, the need for animal welfare services is still high,” says Liam Cullin, Executive Director of the Humane Society. “Each year, we help more than 1,000 cats and dogs find forever homes. Fundraisers like National Cupcake Day make that possible.”

The goal is to raise $5,000.
