Hiding in the snow didn’t really work out that well for a man in West Nipissing, who is known to, and wanted by police.

Yesterday (Tuesday) West Nipissing Police were asked to do a well-being check on a person and officers learned he had left the area.

However, he was found hiding in the snow in a nearby backyard.

The man was arrested.

Police say they also located powdered substances believed be drugs.

 

A couple of break-ins are being investigated in West Nipissing, including one to a church.

Police were called on Monday after a custodian at Eglise Sacre Coeur found the glass on the front door broken and the lock damaged.

It’s not known if anything was taken.

A day earlier police were called after a residence on Malette Road in Sturgeon Falls was ransacked.

Thieves got in by removing a window.

Money and a GPS are missing.

 

West Nipissing Police are also looking for witnesses to a stabbing that’s believed to have happened in a residence on John Street.

The victim was taken to hospital by a friend, to be treated for injuries to his back, but is reluctant to provide any details to police.

The injuries were not life-threatening.
