The inaugural Peter Minogue Rocks and Hearts curling tournament is bringing in a couple of international champions.

Olympic gold medalist skip Brad Jacobs and three-time Canadian and world champion Brent Laing, will be playing at the January 18th to 20th event at the North Bay Granite Club.

The fundraising tournament is supporting the Canadore College Foundation, Military Family Resource Centre and North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation.

Funds will support student scholarships, military family support and expanded hospital services, new programs, and bring leading-edge medical technology and treatment.

The tournament is named after the late Peter Minogue, a distinguished community leader dedicated to North Bay, its businesses and economic well-being, and its people.

Minogue was a multi-talented athlete and inducted into the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame in 2008.

In curling, he skipped a number of winning teams, nearly making it to the Brier on more than one occasion.

The public can watch Jacobs and Laing play on Saturday, January 19th at 11 am.
