The North Bay Battalion are preparing for the return of Luke Burghardt to their lineup.

He retired earlier this season, but has since received medical clearance to resume playing.

On Wednesday, the Troops dealt overage defenceman Cole Cameron to Kitchener for an 8th round pick in the 2022 priority selection.

That leaves the team with three overage players, including Burghardt.

Before the trade, Acting head coach Adam Dennis said he expected Burghardt to be on the ice Thursday.

Burghardt was on the ice on Monday and Tuesday and Dennis says they’re happy with what they have seen.

The Troops will start a road trip Friday in Kitchener.
