World AIDS Day is on Saturday and local officials have plenty on the go on Friday to mark the occasion.

The AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area says a reception with a proclamation and short vigil goes at 10am at The White Water Gallery.

After that hundreds of knitted and donated red scarves will tied in the downtown area for the Red Scarf Project.

Day Without Art is also taking place Friday and Saturday with local art galleries and tattoo studios setting up displays to pay tribute to those lost in the international arts community to HIV/AIDS.
