An OPP officer who used to live in the area and worked out of the Almaguin Highlands detachment is currently running a 250-km multi-stage footrace on the Antarctic Peninsula, and she leads all female competitors after two stages.

Isabelle Sauve’s biography on the competition’s website says she’s expected to finish on the podium.

There are six stages to the event.

Sauve has previously competed in events in Chile, Namibia and Mongolia.
