A coroner’s inquest has wrapped up in North Bay involving the death of a man at hospital, who was in police custody for impaired driving.

49 year old John Roberts died December 15th, 2016.

BayToday reports a jury concluded his death was accidental due to acute fentanyl and cocaine intoxication combined with heart disease.

His daughter Alexis Roberts tells BayToday that was the toughest part.

“Finding out that it was kind of due to an overdose, he had been clean for so long before,” she says.

The jury also recommend police across the province look into the feasibility of having portable defibrillators installed in cruisers.
