A 45 year old Sturgeon Falls man has been charged with exposure to a person under 16 years and forcible confinement.

Police say a young girl was in a cubical browsing when a man followed her to the cubical and exposed himself to her.

The man has a December 6th court date.

West Nipissing Police with an advisory about providing personal information to someone you don’t know over the phone or on the computer.

Police say a Sturgeon Falls resident received an alert on a computer advising of a virus.

The person ended up purchasing anti-virus software.

Later the man received a call from a company advising they were going bankrupt and would be reimbursing him.

Several electronic deposits went into the man’s account. However, all the funds, plus some of the victim’s money was removed from his account.

Meantime, police say they received a report of a local organization having its computer system being targeted by ransomware.

The ransom wasn’t paid and the organization successfully recovered all its data.

Police advise people not to open emails or attachments they do not recognize or trust as these may provide hackers with a way into your computer or device.
